WHO ARE THEY?
Formed in 1879 as the Sunderland and District Teachers Association Football
Club, Sunderland. The club joined the Football League eleven years later. They won the FA Cup in 1973 and have yo-yoed between the top two divisions for the last thirty years.
Now playing at the 48,300 capacity Stadium Of Light after moving from Roker Park, former player Niall Quinn as the front man for a consortium recently took control of the club and is the current manager.

After losing to Boavista,City stormed back winning 5-1 at Kidderminster Harries on Tuesday night. Sunderland have won all four of their pre-season friendlies without conceding a goal.

After losing to Boavista,City stormed back winning 5-1 at Kidderminster Harries on Tuesday night. Sunderland have won all four of their pre-season friendlies without conceding a goal.
This is the 37th game between the two sides. City have won twelve matches and drawn thirteen, scoring 43 goals to Sunderland's 36.
The last game between the two clubs was on March 19 2005 at the Stadium of Light and saw the Sky Blues lose 1-0.
On the opening day of the 2004/05 season, City beat Sunderland 2-0 at Highfield Road. Yet again the game was live on Sky with Patrick Suffo & Eddy Johnson scoring the goals in the last seven minutes of the game.

Wayne Andrews has a severely sprained ankle. Colin Cameron is suspended. New signings Luke Steele and Faysal El Drissi and Chris Birchall have been added to the squad for Sunday's game. Robert Page may possibly be available to play.

By rail: For all train information call National Rail Enquiries on: 08457 48 49 50, but be warned Coventry station around a £10 taxi ride away. Take the 27 bus from the train station get off at Pool Meadow bus station and catch the 4 or 5 service. Or go out of bus station doors, cross over the road by Sainsburys and get the 20 in Trinity Street, getting off by Tescos.
Parking: Car parking is extremely restricted around the ground. Supporters are advised that there is only park and ride site to the south of the city at the Jaguar car plant.
