Sky Blues On The Road - Cardiff City

Coventry City’s 2005-2006 European tour heads for the capital city of Wales and a trip to Ninian Park to play Cardiff City on Sunday 3pm.

Michael Doyle is suspended for this game which has been moved due to Saturday's Wales v New Zealand Rugby game at the very impressive Millennium stadium.

Gary McSheffrey who is available after suspension and Doyle's place may go to Lillian Nallis in what could be his last appearance for the Sky Blues. Kevin Thornton,Isaac Osbourne,Neil Wood are all vying for a midfield spot along with the regulars.

Andy Morrell could be back as well after sitting out the midweek defeat by Stoke City through an ankle injury picked up in training.

For Cardiff City, managed by David Jones whose appearances in a Sky Blue shirt some twenty five plus years ago saw him nominated for “worst player” elevens rather than all time greats, the main doubt appears to be Michael Ricketts. The on loan striker is struggling with a virus with Alan Lee likely to deputise.

This will be the 35th meeting between the two sides. Coventry have won on sixteen occasions with six draws. The referee is Mr C.Penton from Sussex. Last season, City led the game through a goal from Graham Barrett only to lose 2-1.

Plans for a new home for Cardiff City are on a backburner after financial problems last season, so it is another chance for City supporters to be able to stand at a league game.

Coventry supporters have been offered both seats and terracing and is a perfect example of how supporters should have the choice to sit or stand in safety. Tickets for a place on the John Smith’s Visitors Terrace are priced at £18 for adults (£13 concessions) with seats a pound dearer.

If you are travelling by road, leave the M4 at junction 33 and follow Penarth (A4232) signs. After six miles, take the B4267 to Ninian Park.

Cardiff Central station is one mile away.
