7000 Season Tickets Sold

Coventry City Football Club have announced that they have sold 7000 season tickets under the early bird offer. This figure is well down on the same time last year when 8500 had been sold.

However the news is not all bad. Season ticket sales have been risen dramatically since the appointment of Aidy Boothroyd as manager as fans waited to see who would take over the managerial reins and how the squad develops.

The general consensus of opinion is that season ticket sales could have been a lot worse than they are. Commercial director Nathan Kosky said to the CT: "We have a core of supporters who had signed up for season tickets long before the end of last season."

"Others had been waiting to see who the new manager was going to be and we saw a dramatic rise following Aidy's appointment. We recognised that was always going to be the case and you will also see some supporters holding off until they see how the squad starts to shape up over the summer."

"Naturally, we'd be delighted if another 3,000 fans signed up this week. It would be of massive benefit to the club, but we have to be realistic and hope to see sales continue to rise during the summer."

"Every season ticket holder that signs up brings greater strength to the club and that is a message we must continue to convey over the next couple of months."

Coventry City chairman Ray Ranson is fully aware that he needs to sell more tickets to generate funds for the manager to spend on new players, but the fans are reluctant to spend their money until they see signs of improvement.

Ranson said, "He knows he needs to strengthen in areas and we will back him in every way we can. Of course we understand that supporters are keen to see who will be coming in to the club and, as I said on the day he was appointed, Aidy has already handed me a list of who he wants."

The Early Bird price offer has now finished and Season ticket prices now start at £288 for adults, £156 for concessions and £80 for JSBs over 7 years of age, but the prices will rise again after August 1st.
