Coventry City manager Steven Pressley has said that it is a blow to lose Carl Baker for three matches.
City appealed against Baker's dismissal on Tuesday at Leyton Orient but had it rejected and will now be without their captain for the next three matches.
Speaking to the Coventry Telegraph's Alan Poole, Pressley said: “It’s obviously a blow because Carl’s influence on this group has been massive.
“Look at his contribution last year and the way he’s started this season.
"You’re not only losing your captain you’re losing a player who provides a lot of goals and assists, so of course you’re going to miss him, but it will provide another young player with an opportunity to stake a claim and we’ll deal with it.
“We decided it was definitely not an offence that deserved a red card and we thought that the evidence backed that and gave us a really valid case.
“We know that when you appeal a red card there’s not a high percentage of cases overturned, but when we looked at the footage in detail we were convinced Carl had been hard done by."
