Coventry City manager Mark Robins has said that not being able to play David McGoldrick in Saturday's FA Cup tie against Morecambe at the Ricoh Arena is an opportunity for someone else to show what they can do.
Speaking to City journalist Keiran Crowley at the usual pre-match press conference, Mark Robins confirmed that Nottingham Forest had refused permission for McGoldrick to play in the game and said; “We are where we are with that as we can’t get permission for him to play in the cup.
“We have to accept that and get on with things. “I have got a decision to make with that and it presents a great opportunity for someone to come up into the side and show me what they can do.”
McGoldrick is free to play in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy on Tuesday night against Sheffield United at the Ricoh Arena as Forest are not in the competition and cup tieing rules only apply when both a parent club and loan club compete in the same cup or trophy.
