Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray has said that it wll be a big, big decision as to who gets the England manager's job.
Mowbray told the Coventry Telegraph: “Everybody would want the England job but no-one would want to deal with all the other stuff that goes with it, unless they win of course.
“We’ve all seen how it can really damage careers so why would a young guy like Eddie Howe want it, or Gareth Southgate want it?
“Because we all know that after one tournament or two they are going to lose their jobs because England aren’t going to win the next World Cup and European Championship. Whatever stage they get knocked out in they’ll be criticised and exposed, every part of their life and every decision they make looked into.

“If Gareth took it where’s he going to go after the England job? If Eddie Howe takes it is he going to go back to Bournemouth again?”
“People talk about the England DNA.
“I have been on all the courses and seminars and seen the investment of St George’s Park and huge amount of work and energy that’s gone into the England DNA and trying to produce footballers.
“I know Gareth really well and he’s a fantastic man, a wonderful individual and human being and I would only just fear for him. But if he wanted to take the role I would say, ‘go for it,’ because he’s part of the DNA.
“What’s the point of developing an England DNA and then bringing in a Spaniard, Italian, Portuguese or whoever it might be. Realistically the DNA is still in its infancy and needs to develop and develop and it’s at that point now with the young players they have there.”
England go out agony for Rooney, Wilshere and Hodgson
He added: “I don’t know what they are going to do but I do know is there’s a huge, huge decision coming.
“I sat and watched the game the other night and saw Alan Shearer throw his hat into the ring live on telly.
“Glenn Hoddle talks sense as a football guy. He knows about football and yet he hasn’t managed for ten years now but who’s to say you couldn’t have Glenn Hoddle with Gareth Southgate and Alan Shearer, who played in Euro ‘96 together, as maybe mentors.
“Glenn’s a very intelligent man who would buy into the DNA idea, I’m sure.
“You have to have a plan and have some structure and that’s what they have tried to do at the FA so I don’t think Dan Ashworth (FA director of elite development) should be criticised for trying to put that structure in place.
“What is success and what is failure? For Roy Hodgson it’s obviously failure.
“But after the first three games I was excited and thinking what a talented young team we have, bring on the Germans, bring on the French because we’d already beaten them at Wembley, as we’d beaten Germany with our young team.
“All of a sudden one really poor performance when the pressure seemed to get to the players and everything is rubbish again and people want to throw everything out and start again.”
Mowbray can relate what happened to his own experience with the Sky Blues.
“We have seen it with Coventry. “How can we go to Millwall and win 4-0 and then be so poor at Southend and get thumped 3-0 by a struggling team? The structure was the same, we were still doing the same things.
“England had a really bad day in a really massive game and the manager goes and they write ‘good riddance’ on the back of the Daily Mail – it’s what we seem to do in this country."
