Coventry City manager Steven Pressley felt that the 2-0 defeat still provided a valuable exercise in seeing three of his younger players in first team action even if the result and the performance was not up to the required standard for the third away game on the trot.
Pressley fielded Conor Thomas, Billy Daniels and Jordan Clarke in the starting eleven and told the Coventry Telegraph's Andy Turner: “It was a valuable exercise because I’ve had a look at them in a first-team context.
“I don’t think we were aggressive enough in the first half, but we perked up a bit just before the interval and I thought we were a lot better in the second period.
“But by that stage the pitch wasn’t at all conducive to playing football. There were a number of occasions when Callum Wilson and Franck Moussa looked as if they were in a position to shoot but they just couldn’t get the ball out of their feet.”
