Taken from an email to a supporter who complained about the Watford home match being moved to a Friday night.
The following was said by a club spokesperson:
"The decision to move the game is based on a number of things; firstly it is an opportunity to have another sporting event here which will make the club a significant sum of money.
Secondly, it will also help in the spirit of working with the arena and aiding their mission to continually grow and enhance the events held at our fabulous stadium.
Finally, it is also planned that the end of season 125 party will take place after the game.
If we do not get the sporting event, we may revert to Saturday if that's possible, but I hope you understand the board's reasons for moving the game in the first place.
Although I know your email comes with passion and good intention, we really need supporters to back what we do, as we make every decision with the best interests of the club at heart. Sometimes the fans' preference may sadly have to come second to what we must to do to make the business survive; most times the opposite will take precedent however.
With that in mind, we need the fans to not lose touch with what is happening at the club, as much as the other way around as you suggest; so rather than arrange a boycott - which will only serve to make our financial decisions even more important, I hope you understand and appreciate why we sometimes do certain things, and will not be too upset about a change of date for one match.
