Coventry City Development Officer Steve Waggott has admited to being staggered by the demand for tickets and season tickets from City supporters who are so happy that the club are once back in the city of Coventry.
Speaking to the Coventry Telegraph's Simon Gilbert, Mr Waggott said: “Today has been absolutely frenetic the demand has been overwhelming, we knew it would be high but we have been staggered by people turning up at midnight last night, we think it’s terrific.
“The staff have been absolutely superb. I have set the pace, it’s been a challenging pace.
“We gave them just over two weeks to Gillingham after signing the agreement and we said ‘that’s a challenge’ but let’s get on.
“We’ll have a lot of different criticism, a lot of different comments but as long as by the time the game arrives everyone is satisfied, got a ticket and we fill the stadium, how good is that?!
“I have always felt there is a well of support out there we have just got to tap into it at the right time.
“Lots have fans have been disengaged, disenfranchised with the club and the move to Sixfields, we get it, but we’re back now and it’s great to see them all turning up with a smile on their face despite the long queues.
“It will be a massive occasion a celebration of supporters coming together and uniting the club."
