As expected, Micky Adams has been relieved of his duties as Coventry City manager. Appointed on January 26 2005 by a vote of City supporters, Adams, who replaced Peter Reid, kept the Sky Blues in the Championship at the end of the last season of football at Highfield Road.
Micky Adams side started the season badly but with Dennis Wise and Don Hutchison pulling the strings, the season was transformed and an eighth place was achieved.
Over the close season,it was clear that the former Leicester boss' style of man-management was not getting the best out of his players. Although five away victories before Christmas was achieved, City slumped to 16th in the table and last night's cup defeat at which the long suffering City support voiced their displeasure, left the board with no choice but to make a change.
Adams attended the meeting in Mal Branigan's office this morning with his wife Claire and one of his daughters. The meeting lasted less than half an hour and Micky Adams left the building persued by a mob of press. It is believed that he accepted a pay-off deal.
Adams said he was disappointed and wished the club well in the future.
Adrian Heath is expected to take over as caretaker until such time as the board are in a position to appoint a full time manager. Covsupport hopes that this decision will encourage supporters to follow the team in greater numbers and that better times are ahead.
