Micky Adams had alway been confident that the Sky Blues would get the win they needed against Derby County.
He told the press conference: "Keeping Coventry up means a lot to me, of course it does. "But this is not the reason I came into management. Avoiding relegation does not constitute success for this football club and so I'm not going to get too excited about it.
Adams On Derby
"I'm pleased we put on a performance for our fans on the final day at Highfield Road and I'm pleased we've beaten a very good Derby team. "But it was just one game of football and in the grand scheme of things it means nothing.
"What we did was pick a team which could adapt to whatever Derby were going to do. "We weren't sure what sort of system Derby were going to play but the way they lined up suited us I think.
"But make no mistake, Derby are a very good side and I think this result will probably give them the kick up the backside they need to get themselves into the play-offs."
