Adams is quoted as saying: "The players are a talented bunch who should be higher up the table than they are so there's been a certain amount of criticism levelled at me and the players but we can deal with that - we're big boys.
"But they have been kicked in the teeth recently in terms of decisions and results going against us and confidence has been a fragile thing.
"So at half-time we just told the players to have a little bit more confidence in their ability and as soon as the second half started we went out and scored a really good footballing goal.
"There was no ranting and raving in the dressing room at half-time because I don't do that any more.
"I made a conscious decision a couple of years ago to pack in all that stuff because I don't think it does much good any more.
"The game has changed and the mentality of players has changed. Plus it doesn't do your ticker much good when you're shouting and screaming.
"I was pleased with the attitude of my players because they showed heart and desire at both ends of the pitch.
"The style of our performance wasn't important but I think the victory will give the players a great boost in confidence."
