Affinity Scheme No Good For Fans

Saving accounts such as the Sky Blues Saver Account should be given the red card by supporters according to a leading financial consultant speaking to the Daily Telegraph.

Since April, the Sky Blues have had a deal with the West Bromwich Building Society where by the Sky Blues get one per cent of all balances of those who have Sky Blues Saver account on an annual basis but the rates paid to supporters are not as good as those readily available elsewhere.

Stuart Glendinning of moneysupermarket.com said: "As a rule, affinity accounts should be avoided because the rates available don't tend to be as good as those you could get by shopping around.

"You're paying a price to show your affinity with a particular organisation and if you have a passbook for a savings account affiliated to a football club, for example, it's not even the type of thing people get to see. The rates you get are average to poor."

A financial consultant told Covsupport: "The best way for City supporters to show their support and know the club are getting all the money, not minute percentages, is to buy either a season ticket or a ticket for a home game. "
