Former Coventry City defender Sam Allardyce is finalising terms with Everton, according to the Toffees club website.
Allardyce, who played one full season for the Sky Blues as a central defender, is back from Abu Dhabi, after taking in the F1 Grand Prix and the former England, Crystal Palace, Newcastle United and Bolton Wanderers manager, is according to a statement on Everton's club website: "At USM Finch Farm this afternoon to finalise terms on becoming the new manager of Everton Football Club.
Everton have also said that David Unsworth will remain in charge of the Blues for tonight’s Premier League match against West Ham United at Goodison Park.
Allardyce is expected to be appointed in the next forty eight hours and take charge of the team against Huddersfield Town on Saturday and will bring in his long-time friend and assistant Sammy Lee as well as former Leicester City manager Craig Shakespeare.
