Former Coventry City defender Sam Allardyce has been sacked as manager of Blackburn Rovers.
The centre half for City in 1983, has left the Ewood Park Club with immediate effect.
Blackburn lost 2-1 yesterday at local rivals Bolton and have lost three out of their last five matches and a statement on their club website reads: "We have taken this decision as part of our wider plans and ambitions for the club."
Former Coventry City first team coach Steve Kean has been placed in temporary charge of the team.
