England U21 manager and England National Team assistant Stuart Pearce has been talking about his time at Coventry City.
Pearce, was spotted playing for Wealdstone by Bobby Gould, who signed in 1983. A qualified electrician who was given the nickname "Sparky" by the likes of Trevor Peake and Steve Ogrizovic, Pearce went onto make over fifty appearances for City before being sold to Nottingham Forest along with Ian Butterworth.
Coventry is a fantastic club geared for going back up to the Premiership and it's always been good to me," Pearce said to Sky Blue World.
"Coventry was the club that gave me the opportunity to come from being an electrician to playing professional football and I will always be grateful to the club and to Bobby Gould for giving me that opportunity.
"I always look for Coventry's results because it's always been a good club to me. And when I left my council job as an electrician they said they would keep it open for me if things didn't work out at Coventry but thankfully it did. I don't know if the offer of that job is still open today mind."
