Tim
You have now been a Director of Coventry City and the associated companies that operate the club since 2012, for much of that time you have held the position of Chairman.
During that period, the fortunes of the club both on and off the field have been in continuing decline, in short your tenure as a Director has been nothing short of disastrous. I could catalogue the various catastrophes that have plagued Coventry City over the past 4-5 years (and before under Sisu’s stewardship) but will just point out the diabolical position in which the club now finds itself:
· Bottom of League One after the worst start to a season since 1919 (according to Jim Brown); even if we win tonight we will still be at the foot of the table.
· Facing the loss of the prized Academy at the end of the current season.
· Temporary match day hirers at the Ricoh with arrangements due to terminate in 2018.
· No serious prospect of a new ground to call our own.
· Falling attendances.
· Disgruntled supporters – ie your customers lest you forget – particularly Season Ticket holders who feel that they were “conned” during the renewal for this season.
· Broken relationships with just about every key organisation in the City of Coventry with whom the club should be working in partnership – the Council, Wasps/ACL, Coventry Telegraph to name but a few.
In fact, I struggle to think of any modicum of success that has been achieved by the club since you took charge. A few glimmers of hope on the field that were quickly extinguished last season. The Academy has produced a couple of young players worthy of decent transfer fees yet the overall quality of the current squad is the worst in living memory. In my view, it is a tale of failure, mediocrity and incompetence.
While you are not personally to blame for every single issue, all of this has come to pass on your watch and the buck has to stop with you. The petition started by Coventry Telegraph last week is not only an expression of supporters’ disgust with Sisu as owners: currently over 16,700 signatures represents a massive “Vote of No Confidence” in you as Chairman.
Writing this brings me no pleasure, in fact I could easily weep when I think of how our beloved CCFC now stands on the brink of oblivion. I really believe that in the circumstances you need to consider your position. It is difficult to imagine how any business, let alone a football club, can perform so miserably while the person in charge remains at the helm. Therefore, I request that you do the honourable thing and tender your resignation from Coventry City and the associated companies with immediate effect.
I wish you considerably better success in your career after Coventry City.
