Coventry City Executive Vice Chairman and MD Chris Anderson has said that Tony Mowbray and Mark Venus have identified targets for next season.
Writing in his programme notes for the game against Millwall, Mr Anderson wrote: "The club has already began a systematic review across all departments as to why results have suffered to ensure this does not happen again next year,
"There are many lessons which can be learnt, and will be learnt after the second half of the season to put us in a stronger position to get out of the league next time around. As you will have seen with the signings of Vladimir Gadzhev, Jodi Jones and Bilal Sayoud, work has already been underway to make sure our squad is more competitive and stable next season.
"An important component of this summer's recruitment effort will be to continue to build a squad we can call our own, whilst balancing against the need to be competitive. We've used a total of twelve loan players throughout the campaign. That's a high number - and some of those players were with us for only a short period of time - and something that we would like to see going forward.
"Tony Mowbray and Mark Venus have already identified targets and will be looking to give out longer, permanent contracts to make sure we benefit from developing our own talent in the future. I've seen a lot of supporters comment that they are worried about the amount of out of contract players we have at the end of the season and I would like to assure you that we are working hard to build a strong squad for next year.
"If anything we see it as an opportunity. With more players out of contract, it will give the management and staff a relatively 'clean slate' to work with the budget to create our own squad. I'm confident that with the lessons we have learnt since January and with an extensive summer recruitment campaign, we will be in a much stronger position next season."
