MP's are today discussing changes the gambling laws which will allow "super casino's" like the one being built at the new arena complex to be built.
The casino owned by American company Isle Of Capri will be situated at the Arena complex in Foleshill and is set to be the biggest in Europe.
However, despite having the support of Geoffrey Robinson.MP for Coventry North West, who has ensured that law changes have got to a second reading in the House Of Commons, many MP's are expected to oppose any changes due to fears that gambling will become an even bigger problem.
Culture Minister Tessa Jowell said that legislation was needed to protect the public and children.
Patrick Suffo,Claus Jorgensen,Steve Staunton and Luke Steele were on hand to open the new Tescos at the Arena site at 8am this morning. The Tesco store is one of the biggest in the country and has created 800 jobs with many current Tescos workers being redeployed to man the 48 check out store.
