Arena Not Needed As Leamington Are Hammered

Leamington FC will not be needing to use the Arena to stage an FA Cup Replay after being hammered 9-1 at Colchester United.
City supporting Jason Cadden's side held on for 39 minutes until Halford scored with a goal from Brown giving the Football League side a two goal lead at the break. Three minutes in and Iwelumo made it three with Cureton scoring on the hour mark. Waston netted in the 63rd minute,Yeates four mintes later before Cureton added his second and Colchester's seventh in the 70th minute. Leamington achieved something Eric Black's Sky Blue side could not at Layer Road when Adams pulled one back. In the last minute, two goals from Danne made it 9-1 to Colchester.
Nuneaton Borough are now the only Warwickshire team apart from the Sky Blues still in the FA Cup. Former Coventry youngster Robert Oddy put the Boro' ahead in the 15th minute before a 34th minute goal from Staff gave Nuneaton a 2-0 victory over Ramsgate at Manor Park.
Elsewhere in the FA Cup, Unibond League side Burscough beat League One side Gillingham 3-2,Tamworth won 2-1 at AFC Bournemouth whilst the misery for Gary Megson continued as Nottingham Forest could only draw 1-1 at home to Weymouth.
Locally. The top of the table clash in the Midland Combination saw second place Coventry Sphinx beaten 3-2 at home to league leaders Atherstone United. Roy Dunkley hit a hat-trick for the Adders with Adam Kinder netting twice for Sphinx who had Adrian Fisher and Ryan Wolstenholme sent off late on in a match where a large crowd had remembered former Sphinx manager Willie Knibbs who was killed in a car accident four years ago this weekend,returning from Meir KA in a League Cup tie.
Rugby Town beat Bedford Town 5-2,Racing Club Warwick beat Loughborough 2-0,but Stratford lost 1-0 at home to Cradley Town. Coventry Copsewood drew 2-2 with Meir KA,Alveston won 4-0 at Dudley Sports but Massey Ferguson and Nuneaton Griff were both beaten.
