Arena Will Be Ready On August 20th

Coventry City Council have denied claims that the Arena will not be ready for August 20th. Workers on the site and those in the building trade have said that in their opinion, the Arena will not be ready for the visit of Queens Park Rangers.

"It is on target for August 20 and will open on that day," said City Development Director, John McGuigan.

"There will be work that has to be done after that, like drainage, but anything that's needed for a safety certificate will be done by August 20.

McGuigan added: "The deal with Laing O'Rourke is to get the building open and they have had to bring more people on site.

"The reality is that when you move into a facility, that's when you need lots of people. "There is a commitment from every party that is involved in this and that is to be finished on August 20."
