Coventry City loanee Adam Armstrong has said that playing football has cured his homesickness.
Armstrong who is on loan at the Sky Blues from Newcastle United told Tom Barclay writing for The Sun: : “It’s been massive for me coming away on my first loan.
“All the lads have helped me out and my family and girlfriend are down every week watching the games.
“There was a time when I went home and obviously you miss all your family.
“The football helps you clear your mind.
“I’ve got 19 goals and can get a lot more.
“There have been a lot of strikers who are small but get goals. I’m doing it here at Coventry.
“The gaffer has given me a lot of confidence and says I should try to get top goalscorer.
“I was doing really well going up to January so I didn’t see the point in leaving.
“I know there was a lot of talk about going back to Newcastle, but it was where I was feeling happy.
“Hopefully I can push into the Newcastle first team next season, have a good pre-season and see what comes about in the transfer window as well if I need to go back on loan.
“Whatever happens, I’m willing to take it on.”
