Coventry City manager Aidy Boothroyd has admitted he might not always play with a reserve goal keeper on the bench and have seven out field players on the bench to add to his options.
Boothroyd will need to address the problem of a second goal keeper quickly though as City will be without Westwood on Tuesday evening for the first round of the League Cup at Morecambe as he will be on international duty with The Republic of Ireland.
One option as to who will be Westwood's number two is Lawrence Thomas, the 18 year old Australian who has impressed many with his performances during the pre season friendlies.
Boothroyd confirmed to the CT: "I will be sitting down with Lawrence and then pass him on to the chairman. Lawrence has paid his way to come over on trial, having been prepared to go on walkabout to get a career and I think he is going to be a huge talent."
Boothroyd wants to have a good look at fellow Australian Danny Ireland before making a final decision as to who will be the number two 'keeper.
He said, "It all depends on Danny who I haven't seen play yet. He's had an injury and I sent him home for a couple of weeks to see his family and now I want to give him an opportunity to show what he can do."
"He's about six weeks away from everyone else in terms of his fitness and pre-season, but I have got a couple of back up options ready so I can press the button and get someone in if needs be."
