Carl Baker has written that not being given a squad number by Coventry City was a misunderstanding.
Baker, who has a year left on his City contract, was left out of the players given a squad number last week, something which sparked furious reactions amongst some of the City support.
The midfielder has now written on his Facebook page: "The support I've received over the last few weeks has been overwhelming and quite emotional to be honest.
"July has been a very tough month for me, I was obviously disappointed to have the captaincy taken off me but now believe that there was a misunderstanding over my squad number.
"Am not sure where my future will be but if I do stay at Cov I believe I will get a squad number.
"I've still got a slight shin injury and that's why I've missed games but have only been treated the way I would expect if I was still part of the plans.
Hopefully over the next few weeks I will know where I will be playing my footy this season."
