Baker In Germany For Hernia Operation

Coventry City captain Carl Baker is in Germany and will undergo a hernia operation today.

The midfielder has played with the injury for four months but now City bosses have decided that it is time that Baker went to Munich to see De Ulrike Muschaweck and hopefully he will be back for the Good Friday home game against Doncaster Rovers.

Speaking to the Coventry Telegraph's Andy Turner, Baker said: "I’m gutted I’m going to miss the next game because I’m going to Germany on Monday for a hernia operation.

"I’ve had it since November 24 and been playing through it but it’s been getting worse and worse.

"I obviously didn’t want to go while there were so many games but I have managed to get through and thankfully get a few goals and assists from a few good performances, but it definitely needs doing now and hopefully I’ll just miss the one game and then I’ll get fit and try to get back in the team.

"I went to see the same surgeon last year and she’s really good. I had my left side done and I was back running after six days and back training in full sessions after ten, so hopefully the right side will heal just as well.

"I remember it going when we played Portsmouth at home and it’s been sore after games but I have been loving my football so much that I didn’t want to miss any matches

"The physio, Dave Hart, has been fantastic with me, giving me treatment to get me through but I am looking forward now to getting it sorted because a hernia feels like you’ve got a groin strain. But this op means I’ll be going into the final run-in 100 per cent fit."
