The currently appointed referee for Coventry City's Championship fixture against Nottingham Forest at the Ricoh Arena on Tuesday night is Tony Bates from Staffordshire.
Bates In Charge
Mr Bates has been a qualified referee since 1983 and works in the pottery industry. He was an assistant official for matches during Euro 96 and in the same year, he was promoted to the referees list.
He has had 20 matches so far this season, issuing 52 yellow cards and one red.
He had three City games last season. They were the 3-2 League Cup defeat to Newcastle United, the 1-0 win at Brimingham City and the 2-0 home defeat to Cardiff City. The season before, he was in charge for City's 2-1 win at QPR and the 2-0 defeat at Burnley.
