Coventry City winger David Bell has admitted that he is pleased to be back playing football again.
“It was nice to be back playing,” Bell said to the CT's Alan Poole. “For the last year – from November to November – I’ve been fit and only unavailable for a couple of games due to little knocks rather than bad injuries.
“That’s a real bonus after the problems I had before so it was obviously disappointing not to be picked for the last nine or ten games.
“That’s out of my hands but I’ve been working hard and keeping myself fit in training and now I want to get fully match fit and back to playing to my best.
“It catches up because you can train as much as you like but there’s no substitute for games. But I thought I did all right in what was a scrappy game – a bit end to end, which is what we didn’t really want.
“I’ll keep working hard and, if selected, I’ll give my best which is what we’ve all been doing.
"All of the young lads have done great and it’s up to the more experienced players like me to help them as much as possible.
“Getting a few loan players on would give the whole club a boost, not just the team.
"Hopefully there will be some funds to bring in a couple of players because at the minute the manager’s hands are tied.
“But we’re a tight-knit group and everybody is fully behind the gaffer, fully committed to getting ourselves out of trouble.
“The only people who can change things are the players and the staff. Nobody else is going to help us, so it’s up to us to pull together and get on with it.”
