David Bell is another Coventry City player, who since joining the club in January 2009, has been plagued by injury. Bell has been limited to just 32 starts for the club because of injury. His team mate James McPake, who joined the club at the same time as Bell has only started 20 games because if injury.
Bell believes his current groin injury can be traced back to an ankle injury he had while he was still at Norwich, over two years ago.
Speaking about the ankle injury Bell said, "To be honest, prior to getting that, which was an impact injury from a tackle, I had always been happy go lucky and never had any injuries that kept me out for longer than a week. So it all went wrong from there and it has been massively frustrating for me."
"I had to have two operations on it and because it was not right for a year, it put a lot of strain on my left knee and meant I had to have a tidy up in the summer, so this last couple of years has been a bit of a nightmare. I just need to get over this and back playing games and start performing because it can get to you after a while."
"Everyone wants to be fit and playing and I feel I have got a lot to give when I am fit and I need to get back and play 15-20 games on the bounce because it has been a couple of years since I have done that."
" The last thing I want is a reputation of being a player that is always injured. If you look at my record before my ankle injury I have played getting on for 300 league games which shows I was not someone who was always getting twinges here and there."
"I was used to playing 30-40 league games a season and that's what I aim to get back to rather than coming in during the week and speaking to the lads and then going home knowing they have got a game. It is a horrible feeling that I don't want to experience for much longer."
Bell has the uncanny knack of getting the occasional spectacular goal out of nothing and has shown touches of class when he has been fit and at his best and is keen to recover to show everyone what he is capable of doing on the field of play.
He said, "I want to get back to showing people what I can do because I don't think people have seen the real me yet, or the potential I have got which I will hopefully fulfil when I get back playing regular football."
Bell is still probably two weeks away from full fitness and a return to possible first team selection.
He said, "I have got a tear in the tendon in my groin which is a bit frustrating after getting myself fit. I am two and a half weeks into the rehab now and I have got another week and a half to two weeks before I can be back involved with the boys."
