Former Coventry City defender Ben Turner has left Burton Albion.
Turner, who came through City's Academy and making into the first team, went to Cardiff City when his City contract expired and came back to the Sky Blues on loan.
The Birmingham born defender joined Burton Albion in the summer of 2016 and has decided to cancel his contract with Burton so that he can look at offers as a free agent.
Nigel Clough told the Burton club website: “We sat down with Ben earlier in the week and we told him that it was unlikely we would be able to offer him anything for next season and we therefore wanted to do the best we could to help him get fixed up. The rebuilding is going on looking ahead to next season and this is part of it.
“Ben has been brilliant for us for two and a half years but now this is the best thing all round for all parties.
“Once you become a free agent, there are always clubs looking for players after the deadline. Players who are free agents are in a pretty good position.”
