The Birmingham born defender who has risen through the club ranks, picked up a hamstring injury last season after he had broken into the first team and was concentrating on a regular place in City's back four.
Now, he is back and featured as a substitute in City's defeats to FC Brasov and Stade Nyonnais last week.
Speaking to the CT, Turner said: "I worked really hard on my hamstring in the summer to make sure that was right first and I was very happy with the way I played in the two games prior to going out to Switzerland, and I feel I have set a marker down for how I can perform with the fitness we have got at this stage.
"But I don't think I played at that level in the first game in Switzerland against FC Brasov, for whatever reason. Such is life and you always have good games and bad games.
"So I have had a couple of good ones and one bad but in terms of the training I have been really happy with the way it has gone for me.
"There is bound to be a bit of rustiness, particularly considering I haven't played a competitive game since early January - barring these last four friendlies - so it has been a long time for me and if I can get rid of that rustiness that I showed against Brasov, my fitness is right and hopefully I will be all right."
