Coventry City striker Freddy Eastwood has claimed that Tuesday nights victory over Nottingham Forest was the Sky Blues best performance of the season so far and he is eager to see their home form extend to a win over QPR on Saturday. City are now in a run of four games unbeaten at The Ricoh Arena. Eastwood want that to be five by Saturday evening.
Eastwood said, “We knew it was going to be a tough game so we knew that everyone had to turn up. We have been getting too inner.many draws lately so we knew we needed a win and there was nothing better than to get one against a good team. We worked as a unit and with the chances we had I think we deserved the victory as well."
"As a team, from back to front, it was one of the best performances of the season and that will hopefully provide a platform for us to push on. The boys did really well at the back and if they can keep clean sheets like they did on Tuesday night then that gives me and Clinton the chance to push on and get a goal. The goals I have scored recently have all been in the box and they are the little goals I used to get at Southend that used to put me into double figures. I used to score nice goals outside the box but the little tap-ins are real strikers’ goals to be fair.”
Eastwood said he thought any chance of a strike on goal had gone, saying, “When the ball went by me I didn’t see Richard Wood there and I thought I had missed my chance, but then the keeper pulled off an unbelievable save and it was just there waiting for a tap-in and I was delighted to put it in the back of the net."
“Forest had a couple of good chances in the second and half to be honest I thought one or two were in, but the way we defended I thought we deserved a little bit of luck. The way we have been playing recently, on another night things could have gone against us, but I spoke to the boys at the back and they said that they didn’t have the feeling that they were going to concede."
"It was just one of those days when they felt they wouldn’t score and that is a great feeling to have and can only breed confidence in the team. Carl Baker went on and he likes running at people and late on in the game they were tired and he was beating a few and we were creating chances, albeit we were trying to keep the ball in their half, and we could have had a second in the end."
“It is nice to beat a good team because if we had beaten someone below us then people would have said we should have won anyway, but I am sure a lot of people expected Forest to get three points so to get a scalp like that is a big achievement for us. It is an even bigger game for us on Saturday now and we know that if we perform like we did against Forest again then we have got a great chance of getting another three points.”
