Former Coventry City striker Leon Best, who was sold by City to Newcastle on the last day of the January 2010 transfer window, will not be leaving the club according Magpie's boss Alan Pardew.
Speculation had suggested that Best would be loaned out or even sold after the player failed to impress the Toon Army despite not being given many opportunities to play.
Best has only made six starts for Newcastle since his transfer a year ago, but Pardew insists he is going nowhere.
Responding to the reports of Best's imminent departure, Pardew said, "That's not true at all. Leon played a really nice cameo at Wigan."
"It was good to see the fans' reaction to him, which I thought was positive and good. He put his life on the line with a couple of challenges out there in the short period he was on."
