Coventry Sphinx manager Luke Hopkins felt the performance from his side in their 3-1 win over Westfields on Thursday night was better but not brilliant.
Ashley Jackson, Luke Downes and Ashley Wilks scored for Sphinx before the Hereford based team replied with an 83rd minute penalty from Craig Jones.
Speaking to the Sphinx website about the game, Hopkins said: “It was better but wasn't brilliant.
“We made a few changes to the starting eleven but in general there was a lot of second chances being dealt to lads. They were decent in the first half on Tuesday so it was within them and they showed that tonight in first 25 minutes where realistically we should have been four goals up.
“Good goals from an Ashley Jackson free kick and good football resulted in Luke Downes adding the second. Once we got the two, cruise control slipped in and that's not good for us as we switch off.
“Westfields had the better end to the first half and we were fortunate to be two goals up. The second half was different and the players went back to doing as asked and with Ash Wilks coming on to score and make it 3-0.
Westfields made a late go for it and were awarded a late penalty which they scored from but we saw out the game and did the job we needed to do and get three points against our bogey team in the league.
“Moving on to Saturday and the home game against Stourport Swifts and I have managed to sign on three new players, to help give us a strong finish to the season and also regulars in Ash Cain and Luke Williams will return. With competition for places, we need the work rate to kick on and finish off what has been a good season and not let it finish on a low and overshadow the achievements of the FA Cup run and a better points tally.
