Birchall is currently training with the side which has David Beckham on its books and told BBC Radio Stoke: "Hopefully, If a deal goes through, it would be a privilege to play with David Beckham and I can learn a lot from him.
"For Trinidad and even for Coventry, I've played with some good old pros and you can only learn off people like that.
"I heard off my agent that LA Galaxy had been watching me. Playing in games for Trinidad against America, Mexico and other South American teams has given them a chance to scout me.
"The interest is still there and hopefully will go through in July.
Birchall had been at Carlisle and Brighton after leaving City earlier this season.
