The BBC are claiming that Coventry City have whittled down the applications to become the next manager of Sky Blues to a final four.
Former City manager Eric Black has been named by the BBC along with Keith Curle, Paul Dickov and Tim Sherwood as being on the list.
At a time when City need to galvanise their support and retain the income from everyone who goes to games, appointing the right manager is crucial.
The club cannot afford to give supporters yet another reason not to come to matches or support the club.
That is why appointing Keith Curle, Paul Dickov or Tim Sherwood would be the wrong move. All three candidates have well documented baggage and lots of it and we understand that a number of supporters have already said that they won't be coming back if any of this trio get the job. .
Black, popular in his time as assistant manager and then manager, was seen by many City supporters as being stitched up by then Chairman Mike McGinnity, who had Peter Reid lined up to replace him a long time before the appointment was made.
Black would be the only man of the four that the majority ot the City support would get behind and if this list is correct, then Eric Black can be the only serious candidate.
