Blair Adams Joins City Former Players Association
Last updated : 31 October 2014 By CCFPA
After gaining the signature of Carl Baker a few weeks ago Coventry City Former Players Association are very pleased to announce that another Sky Blues from the recent past has agreed to join the Association. We are pleased to welcome Blair Adams who has shown his continued affection for his time at Coventry City by joining CCFPA in the last few days.
Blair is currently with Sky Blues rivals Notts County having signed a two year deal for the Magpies in July after he reached a mutual agreement to terminate the final year of his contract at the Ricoh. He started his career with Sunderland FC’s Academy from 2010 and prior to coming to the Ricoh gained first team league experience on loan with both Brentford and Northampton Town. Twenty two year old attacking full back Adams also initially moved from Sunderland to Coventry in November 2012 on loan then signed a two-and-half year deal with the Sky Blues making the switch permanent in January 2013. Blair ended up making 64 appearances in all competitions in two seasons with the Sky Blues.
Sky Blues gaffer (and now a fellow CCFPA member) Steven Pressley has said it was a hard decision for him to let Blair go but he judged that tactical adjustments to the Sky Blues style of play this season would limit Blair’s first-team opportunities and felt it was only fair to give him the chance to seek regular football elsewhere. Pressley is quoted as saying that, “Blair is a fantastic kid. His attitude and approach towards the game are first class.” and, in relation to his time at CCFC, Blair also told BBC Radio Nottingham “There are no hard feelings. I loved it there and was sad to go; I’ve just got to put it behind me and go again; There are always new challenges to take on and I’m delighted to be here (at Meadow Lane).”
We look forward to seeing Blair back at the Ricoh (albeit this time probably in a Magpies shirt) in a few days time and ‘in plain clothes’ at future Association events when his playing commitments allow! (Thanks to Pete Swain of Anchor Radio and CCFPA committee member Frank Pritchard for enabling Blair’s recruitment to CCFPA)
