Coventry kid and Port Vale Chairman Norman Smurthwaite has said that the Coventry City players are to blame for the FA Cup defeat to non-league Worcester City.
The former Radford residing Smurthwaite told the Coventry Telegraph:
"As the owner of Port Vale FC and CCFC life-long fan losing to MK Dons in our FA Cup draw was bad enough, but to see the fiasco of CCFC Sunday's game against Worcester was a real downer in the Smurfs household.
"The problem does not lie with The Board or Manager but the players who act as a petulant child instead as a professional footballer and role model.
"No Manager can plan for the sometimes brainless act which damages the Club and it fortunes
"CCFC has come a long way over the last few weeks and all concerned should look to the future and support the Great Club CCFC which is back in the City and and a true asset of the City.
"I know the Board is committed to bringing the fortunes back to the Club and understanding the challenges of owning and running a Football Club as I do they need all the support from all interested parties.
"The good days will return, have faith and support the great cause CCFC."
