Boateng Plays But Boro Are Beaten

George Boateng played in Middlesbrough's 4-0 UEFA Cup Final defeat in Rotterdam. Fabiano, former West Brom striker Maresca (two) and former Spurs star Freddie Kanoute scored the goals for Seville.

Boateng blamed his side's failure to take their chances for the defeat but refused to be drawn on whether this was his last appearance in a Middlesbrough shirt.

Jonny Tuffey was on the bench as Northern Ireland U21's beat Liechtenstein 4-0 at Windsor Park. Peter Thompson,Richard Clarke, David Scullion and Rory McArdle scored to give the Ulstermen an 8-1 aggregate victory.
