Coventry City manager Aidy Boothroyd is optimistic that he can persuade his Icelandic international midfielder Aron Gunnarsson to stay at The Ricoh and sign the new contract he has been offered.
Gunnarsson's current contract expires in the summer and he has left the negotiations to his agent, but has so far failed to agree to the deal on offer.
Comments attributed to Gunnarsson's father indicated that there was no way he would sign a new contract with Coventry City, but the player later played down the remarks.
Gunnarsson (Pictured above) will be having a short break over the busy Christmas season as he serves his three match ban for being sent off last week against Norwich.
Boothroyd said to the CT: "It will get resolved at one point or another and I'm sure we can iron something out."
"We're heading into January and people will be asking questions about our players, but we won't sell anybody unless we want to and we certainly don't want to sell him."
