For the last three weeks controversial striker Marlon King has been going to sign for Coventry City 'soon', but, as yet, it hasn't happened.
Many City fans hope he will never sign, they don't want a serial offender at their club. Other fans are just as passionate about having a proven Championship striker in the side to give a boost to their season and there are fans who just want the situation sorted because it has gone on for far too long.
Among those who want a resolution one way or the other are King, his agent Tony Finnegan and City boss Aidy Boothroyd, who all want the striker on City's books.
Boothroyd is fast becoming exasperated and embarrassed over the whole affair, describing it a ridiculous and a soap opera. Once again, he has said he hopes to have King's signature today, in time for tomorrow's game at Bristol.
Aside from the controversy surrounding King, Boothroyd is getting desperate for enough fit players to make up a team on Saturday. Yesterday fourteen players sat out training with knocks or injuries.
"I think if it goes on any longer we are going to have to get the TV cameras involved and call it Dynasty because it is ridiculous and become a soap opera," said Boothroyd to the CT.
"It just needs to be sorted out and I am sure it will be, one way or the other. We are very, very hopeful that by the end of the day all the ducks are in place and we can get on with it. That's what I want and everyone wants. It looks as if it is going to happen but until he actually signs and is out there playing then nothing is ever done until it is done."
If King is to figure in the Coventry City side at Bristol, he needs to be registered with the FA and Football League by midday today, if not, he misses out again.
Boothroyd was asked if King would go straight into the side and if so, what impact wil he have?
He replied, "Yes, he has trained for four weeks but not trained the last few days because we have been trying to sort this out, but he is fit enough and ready to go and score goals."
"Time will tell how big a signing he will be, but we have got a fit, hungry player who has got a point to prove. He is desperate to play football and I think he could be a very good signing."
Boothroyd claims the protracted saga surrounding King is not having a detrimental effect on the team, explaining: "The other stuff takes care of itself and I have got a good chairman and team in the background working their socks off to try to support me, the team and the club."That is a really important part of any successful club that the chairman, the manager and everyone behind the scenes are together, and we are."
