Coventry City manager Aidy Boothroyd has not forgotten about Roy O'Donovan even though the Irishman has only featured in one competitive game for the Sky Blues since his summer move from Sunderland.
O'Donovan has only played in the one Carling cup game at Morecambe so far this season, although he has been named on the bench another five times, he has not been used as a substitute.
O'Donovan has strong competition for a strikers place in the current Coventry set up and since the arrival of Marlon King, he has slipped even further down the pecking order.
Bothroyd is considering letting the 25 year old striker spend some time on loan where he will be able to get some competitive match practise.
"I brought Roy in because I saw a player who I think has got a really good chance," said Boothroyd to the CT. "I thought he was terrific in the pre season without actually scoring any goals."
Boothroyd was attracted to O'Donovan when he scored nine goal in 15 games while on loan from Sunderland at Hartlepool last season.
Boothroyd continued: "He and Freddy Eastwood combined very well and then Lukas and Clive came in, Gary McSheffrey came in and is playing out wide on the left, and now Marlon has come in so it is tough."
"It is the toughest area up there but as far as Roy is concerned he just gets his head down and gets on with it, but there will be a time I think when perhaps we might need to look at saying to him that he might need to go and get some games to make sure he is match sharp, but that time will present itself when it is right but I don't think it is right now."
