Coventry City manager Aidy Boothroyd has responded to speculation surrounding the rumoured signing of jailed Marlon King.
Boothroyd would consider signing King, but only if he fails in his attempts to bring in those strikers he has already targeted and made approaches for.
Boothroyd said to the CT: "Marlon King is a player that lost his way and then came to me at Watford and got himself going again and became a fantastic asset to Watford. He went on to bigger and better things at Wigan and lost his way again."
"Inevitably, because he did really well for me people will always link him with me, but at this moment in time I am looking at other players in that area. People always link players with managers and managers with players because there is a link from their past rather than because there is anything in it."
Boothroyd views the signing of King as a gamble between getting a proven Championship goal scorer against the moral outrage and media interest in the story rather than for footballing reasons such a move could provoke.
