One of Coventry City's managers' loan targets Bolton Wanderers' Danny Ward looks likely to sign for Leeds United.
After Trotters boss Owen Coyle has said he will allow Ward to go on loan to gain experience, a host of Championship clubs joined the race to sign the exciting teenage striker.
Boothroyd was keen to get the services of Ward to add to his attacking options, but it is increasingly looking as if he has been pipped by Simon Grayson after the Bradford born 18 year old Ward opted to join Leeds.
Speaking to The Bolton News Owen Coyle said: "I'm going to allow him out on loan but only until January to allow him to get that Championship experience."
"What I have done with the lad, so that he is comfortable with his environment, I have allowed him to speak to the necessary clubs. Once that's resolved, we'll look at the finance involved for the football club and what's involved in it. Whether it's concluded this week, time will tell, but we are certainly agreeable to it."
