Now that Aidy Boothroyd has started work at The Ricoh, he is beginning to look at the players he has at his disposal and whether he wants to keep them or let them leave.
One player wanting to know where his future lies is Michael Doyle, who is currently on loan at Leeds United.
The 28-year old Irish international has another year to run on his contract with Coventry City, but City manager Boothroyd is yet to decide whether he wants to recall the player who played against his former club when Colchester lost 2-0 at Elland Road in January.
Doyle fell out of favour with former manager Chris Coleman, who felt the player had become stale at Coventry and needed a change of scene. He spent last season on loan at Leeds and has said many times he likes it in Yorkshire would love to sign a permanent deal with the Elland road club.
Boothroyd said: "I know all about Michael because he played against Colchester last season. If I think he can add to what we want to do and be part of the future then I will pick up the phone. If I don't, then we will see what happens. Obviously Leeds will have an interest because he has done well for them."
Leeds have indicated they would like to take the player who has proved useful to them in their promotion year, but they want to sign him as cheaply as possible and have hoped they can get him on a free transfer despite having a year left on his contract.
Leeds want to know as soon as possible if Doyle will be available for transfer as Simon Grayson is also looking at other players to fill the role that Doyle had.
