"Last Saturday was certainly a lot better than it's been in recent weeks. I was glad to see the back of Christmas and New Year, but I think there's lessons to be learned, and it was good to get a win definitely," Boothroyd said to Sky Blue Player at the club's weekly press conference.
"I thought we made hard work of it, but I thought some of the play in the game, in the first half in particular, could be a turning point for us as a team."
Boothroyd has Sammy Clingan back available and the City boss told Sky Blue Player: "He is fit to be in contention again. He's had a good week and a half training with us, he's done very well and I've got to make one or two decisions. Lee Carsley's come back into contention as well."
Carl Baker is another who played in the cup match and the City boss said: He's giving me a headache with all the other options I've got in midfield so it's a nice position to be in, but he has certainly done himself a big favour with a good performance on Saturday.
"Everyone's in good form. Clive Platt's been fantastic all week so I've got some decisions to make ahead of Saturday."
