Black, now at Wigan Athletic, tried to sign the Frenchman when he was City boss but did not get the financial backing from the board he needed for the deal to go through.
Said Black to the CT: "Beuzelin's an extremely good footballer. He came to Coventry for a trial and I tried to sign him. He joined in a couple of training sessions but the club didn't have the money to sign him at the time.
"He was at Le Havre and I knew him through an agent friend of mine, who was the same agent of Eric Deloumeaux. And when I couldn't get him I actually recommended him to Hibs where he spent a successful spell.
"He has a lovely left foot and he's a good size as well. More recently he has probably played more sitting in front of the back four but he can get up and down and is very good at circulating the ball."
