The Coventry City Former Players Association Special Guest for the Sky Blues penultimate home game against Brentford on Saturday (April 6th 2013) is Brian Joicey.
Brian was an England Amateur International and after a non-league career in his native North-East the rumbustious 24 year old inside forward was signed from North Shields in June 1969 for £35000 and made a total of 44 appearances for the Sky Blues scoring 10 goals.
He then moved on (with fellow CCFPA member Dave Clements) to Sheffield Wednesday in August 1971 for a combined fee of £100k. He had a very successful career with the Owls scoring over 50 times in just over 160 appearances before moving to Barnsley in 1976 where he finished his League career three years later.
Brian now works in the motor trade in South Yorkshire. Look out for Brian around the corporate lounges before the game, on the pitch at half-time, and on the stage at Lady Gs in the Casino at the Ricoh at the end of the game where he will be chatting with CCFPA’s Billy Bell. We also hope Brian will provide match day analysis for our friends at BBC CWR during the game.
