Southend United boss paid tribute to Tyrone Barnett who scored twice during The Shrimpers 3-0 win over Coventry City.
Speaking to the Press Association, Brown said: If you want to single anyone out then Tyrone was the epitome of hard work out there and he fully deserved his two goals.
"His first goal was a great finish and so was the penalty. "He also started the move which led to it being given and continued to cause them problems when we went down to 10 men.
"I was worried that might not happen because we had to sacrifice Jack Payne after the red card and Tyrone was up there on his own. "But he did a great job and it's just a shame he can't play in our next game against his parent club."
