Coventry City manager Steven Pressley has said that Lee Burge will get his chance to show what he can do.
The Hereford hailing keeper is yet to make his full debut for the Sky Blues and has been a mainstay for City U21's this season.
However, Steven Pressley has said that he will get his chance and told the Coventry Telegraph's Andy Turner: “Absolutely. If we manage to retain Joe, terrific; if we don’t we would have to bring in another goalkeeper. But, in either event, Lee would be given every opportunity to be the No.1 goalkeeper at our club.
“If Joe stays the one thing I have said to Lee is I don’t want him coming in on the first day of pre-season resigned to the fact that he’s going to spend another year as an understudy.
“I want him coming in and competing with Joe for the number one jersey and I don’t want him happy to be No.2 if Joe was to remain.
“But if we don’t retain Joe then he’ll get every opportunity to stake his claim as the No.1 goalkeeper.
“Joe is out of contract this summer and we have a situation where it’s uncertain if he’ll be at the club, so we are delighted in the respect that we have got Lee tied up on a new three-year deal.”
