Former Coventry City loanee Gary Caldwell has been sacked as manager of Chesterfield FC.
Chesterfield after being relegated from League One last season, dropped to 23rd in the League Two table with a 2-1 home defeat to Accrington Stanley today and the club have decided that it was time for Caldwell who has won three games since he took over to go.
Chesterfield's company secretary Ashley Carson said: "I don't think anybody can be shocked.
"As I said to Gary, we've given you absolutely everything and he said, 'yeah, you've been brilliant, I couldn't ask for any more' except he was asking for a few more games.
"But that can't happen, you have to judge what the fans want as well and when we get the response like that from the fans today, we owe it to them to call it a day.
"We had said we would give it eight games and we find ourselves second from bottom so that was decision made."
Also in League Two, Port Vale have sacked Michael Brown as their manager.
Port Vale CEO, Colin Garlick, said in a press statement “We are all very disappointed with the start to the season, I know Michael and his staff have worked extremely hard to try and rebuild the club and achieve the results that we were looking for but unfortunately, this has not happened. I would like to thank Michael for his hard work and wish him and his family all the very best for the future”.
David Kelly and Chris Morgan will take charge of first team affairs in the interim period.
Former Coventry City player, Caretaker Manager, U23's boss and Academy Coach Lee Carsley has been put in charge of Birmingham City tonight following the sacking of Harry Redknapp.
